Welcome! My name is Michael, and I recently relocated to Portland from East Tennessee. I am excited to join the ITTC team.
I believe that therapy is a sacred process and experience, and I am happy to have the opportunity to collaborate with you on your healing journey. Did you know it has been scientifically proven that humans are neurologically wired for connection? I aim to create a therapeutic environment where counseling can be a sacred connection space. This therapeutic connection creates a special environment for you to be seen, heard, witnessed, feel supported, and process complex life events.
I aim to take a compassionate approach to your concerns and work together to build a strategy that aligns with your mental health and wellness goals. I work through a holistic lens that is grounded in experiential and evidenced-based therapeutic modalities that we utilize based on your unique personality and needs. I hope to build a therapeutic relationship and connection where you feel safe and can be supported in creating the awareness, knowledge, and practical skills for your growth and healing. I believe that, ultimately, you are the expert in your experience, and I look forward to walking with you on your therapeutic journey.
I am currently in my final semester at the humanistic and holistically focused Saybrook University, completing my Master of Clinical Mental Health Counseling degree. I also have many years of experience in and hold certifications in a wide array of holistic modalities that help inform my clinical practice, such as yoga/meditation, spiritual coaching, counseling & mediumship, emotional recovery, and reiki. I have also spent many years exploring the expressive arts. Before reorienting my life into holistic studies and practice in 2007, I worked as a mechanical engineer specializing in noise and vibration refinement in the automotive field. Over thousands of hours of seat time in vehicles, I learned to refine my skills of tuning into the subtle energies of systems. I have used it ever since in all my holistic work. If one thing I believe is constant in life, it’s change.
When I am not working, you may find me exploring the outdoors, hugging a tree, traveling, spending time with loved ones, finding new local eateries and coffee shops, walking with my dog, reading, and listening to all kinds of music that move me or catching a movie or a favorite show.
