My Bio

Hi, I’m Laura. I believe everyone deserves to feel heard and to have a safe, supportive space to process what they have experienced. You do not need to have the right words or know exactly where to begin. We can start where you are.

My approach is warm, honest, and collaborative. I view many coping patterns as responses that helped someone survive difficult circumstances, even when those patterns are no longer working for them. Together, we can better understand those responses, build on your strengths, and support healing and growth at a pace that feels manageable.

I am a student intern completing my Master of Social Work degree at Grand Canyon University. I earned bachelor’s degrees in psychology and sociology from the University of Portland and hold credentials as a Qualified Mental Health Associate II and Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor I.

I bring more than 15 years of experience working with youth and adults in behavioral health, crisis intervention, residential treatment, juvenile justice, community mental health, substance use services, and advocacy. My background includes supporting people experiencing complex trauma, serious mental health concerns, addiction, suicidal thoughts, exploitation, unsafe relationships, and significant social barriers. This work has taught me to remain grounded in difficult moments and to always see the person beyond the diagnosis.

I also bring lived experience and an ongoing commitment to my own healing, learning, and growth. I understand that healing is personal, rarely linear, and cannot be rushed. I value trust, authenticity, compassion, accountability, and genuine human connection.

My work is trauma-informed, person-centered, strengths-based, and rooted in harm reduction. I am especially interested in how trauma affects the nervous system, body, relationships, attachment, identity, and self-worth. I also welcome holistic and spiritual perspectives when they are meaningful to the client.

Outside of work, I am a certified hot yoga instructor and enjoy paddleboarding, nature, crystals, creative arts, plants, and spending time with my dog, Buddha, and kitten, Zendaya.
