Somatic Approaches for Trauma & Dissociation
Healing Trauma Through the Mind, Body, and Nervous System

You may know logically that you are safe, yet still feel anxious, overwhelmed, disconnected, frozen, hypervigilant, or unable to relax. This is because trauma impacts more than our thoughts and memories. It affects the nervous system, the body, our relationships, and our sense of safety in the world.
At Integrative Trauma Treatment Center, many of our clinicians work from a somatic and nervous system-informed lens. While every therapist brings their own training and style, our approach is grounded in the understanding that healing often requires more than talking about what happened. It also involves learning how to reconnect with the body, build safety within the nervous system, and develop a deeper relationship with ourselves.
Somatic-Informed Approaches
At ITTC, no two therapy journeys look exactly alike. Your therapist will work collaboratively with you to determine which approaches best support your goals, history, and nervous system. Depending on the clinician and your treatment goals, therapy may incorporate elements of:
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
Trauma-Sensitive Yoga
Massage Therapy
Experience a collaborative, body-based approach to healing centered on choice and personal control. Trauma-informed massage offers a supportive space to relieve physical tension, ease stress, and reconnect with your body at your own pace.

Begin Your Healing Journey
Healing from trauma is not about forcing yourself to move on or pushing through overwhelming experiences. It is about learning to listen to what your body and nervous system have been communicating all along.
Whether you are seeking support for trauma, dissociation, anxiety, nervous system dysregulation, or simply wanting to feel more connected to yourself, our clinicians are here to help.
Together, we can explore approaches that honor both your story and your body.
