Integrating psychotherapy, medication management, body work & mindfulness for an encompassing and empowering approach to healing.
Saskia Ison, LMFT, Therapist
I’ve always had a passion for working with people and a drive to support the community around me. Watching people’s behaviors and choices growing up has sparked a curiosity within me to pursue a path in psychology. I believe that one of the conditions of being a human is to ask for help, because we all need each others support to navigate the difficulties in life. I am also an artist and certified in Expressive Arts Therapy, and love to integrate creativity into the healing process.
Working together we will foster a greater awareness around the relationship you have with yourself and others. I will follow your lead as we discover what is happening in your external and internal world. I know that change is usually not a linear path, and can sometimes take a lot of work to arrive at a place that feels well and resonates deeply. As a supportive witness, I will help you safely navigate whatever may come up for you throughout your process. Through exploring your mind, body and heart, we will work towards reconnection and healing, so you may become a more whole, inclusive and vibrant self.
I believe that not all forms of therapy fit each client, so I use an integrative approach and utilize a variety of modalities. My foundations are rooted in psychodynamic, humanistic and object relations with a somatic influence of being present to what is happening in the here and now. I believe that everyone has an innate magnetism towards growth and change.
I received my Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of San Francisco. My background includes working in a multitude of settings with people from across all ages of the lifespan, as well as a very wide variety of presenting issues. I’ve worked a hospital doing guided imagery and expressive arts therapy with palliative care patients, at a mental health clinic with a sliding scale fee in service of the community and accessibility to mental health, and with homeless mothers and children. I’ve also worked in the school system providing therapy to young children and teenagers with their families. I would be honored to be a part of your journey in all of its peaks and valleys.
