Integrating psychotherapy, medication management, body work & mindfulness for an encompassing and empowering approach to healing.
Brooke Gateley Meier, LCSW, Therapist
Creating relationships with people from various walks of life has been a passion of mine for some time and this lead to providing therapy to others who seek some kind of change from their current situation. A relational approach to therapy is vital to helping create change that is driven by your desire for a different experience and mind set and it can often be a large step to take. My hope is that we can create attainable goals together that will fit with your lifestyle.
My approach to therapy includes a strengths-based collaboration and individualized interventions to take on your challenges to achieving a better life. Therapy will provide unique opportunities to help you focus on building healthy relationships, managing difficult emotions, and to obtaining self-insight into problematic behavior and thought cycles. This can be achieved by exploring problematic thinking and behavior patterns, practicing mindfulness, restructuring cognitive habits and beliefs, and processing past experiences through my training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Interpersonal Neurobiology, and pulling from Family Systems and Attachment Theory.
My graduate education background in social work at Portland State University provided me with diverse discussion about challenges that people have and that can often feel overbearing and difficult to manage alone. My clinical license in social work and specialization in sexual abuse treatment and prevention have allowed me to work mainly with adolescents and young adults as well as those in the LBGT community. I am a sex positive educator and believe that as a therapist you cannot come from a place of judgement, regardless of their present or past, when you preach acceptance of others. I have an active license in clinical social work (LCSW) and I am a licensed therapist for the Sexual Offender Treatment Board (SOTB) with the Oregon Health Licensing Office specializing in adolescent’s who have had problematic sexualized behavior in their community.
